Which tripod do I need?

A good quality tripod has a long life. To enjoy your tripod for as long as possible, it is important that it meets your wishes and requirements. We are happy to help you make the right choice!

What should you pay attention to when buying a tripod?

The first question you should ask yourself is: ‘What do I want to use the tripod for?’. If you are going to use the tripod for accurate measurements, stability can play an important role. If you have to transport the tripod a lot, the weight and transport length can be important.

You can make a good choice by looking at the material, required carrying capacity and the design of the tripod. We explain exactly what this means below.

Aluminium or Carbon?

The biggest difference between aluminum and carbon is the weight. Carbon has the property that it is stiff, sturdy and light in weight. Aluminum is a sturdy type of metal, but it is heavier in weight than carbon. If you would like a lightweight tripod, carbon is a good choice.

What load capacity do I need?

The maximum load capacity depends on the product that your tripod will support. Add up the weight of your heaviest product, including adapter. This is the maximum load capacity. Sit a little more spacious above this, then you know for sure that you are in the right place.

Do I choose a tripod with a fixed center column or extendable center column?

With most tripods you can slide the legs in and out. In addition, you also have tripods with a sliding center column. The number of sections to extend affects the overall stability. The advantage of many extendable sections is that the tripods are more compact and therefore have a shorter transport length. This makes them easier to store and transport.

Tripods without an extendable center column are more stable than the tripods with an extendable center column. If a high degree of stability is important, we recommend choosing a tripod with a fixed center column, also known as a fixed head. The tripods with a fixed head have the highest load capacity. This is because the weight of the product on the tripod is distributed over 3 legs and with the tripods with a center column, the center column carries the full weight. The choice for a fixed center column or extendable center column therefore depends on your application.
